At the time I'm sure you didn't think to copy them. People often put things in caskets or leave valuable jewelry on their loved ones and that's what cremation avoids. I'm sure people put things in crypts as we did with my mom's dress. Things like that could be retrieved but when they sealed my parents up the guy said they never open them back up. Really? That's my final resting place so they better open that baby back up when I die!!!!!
