Both of my husbands willingly had vasectomies. God bless them both. The complications are much less then the tubal ligation. It's a safer procedure without the anesthesia a woman would have to have. I always considered men who refused to have the vasectomy very selfish. Sorry, Rob. As a nurse, I saw a lot of vasectomies and my biggest advice to each guy was REST for at least 4 days. But, day 2 you will feel really good. My first husband went out and mowed the lawn he felt so good and his balls blew up like cantaloupes and he was miserable. I tried to warn #2 but he did the same thing. Day 2, feeling good, did too much strain and big, painful, ball syndrome struck him too. Most of the men were very grateful for my expert advice. It saved them a lot of pain. And I always made sure to tell them what "real men" they were to take care of the birth control like that and not put their wives through the much worse tubal ligation. Some of these men were beaming when they left the hospital. Men like to be the hero. Don't they?
