Cardinals Are a Sign That Your Loved One Will Live Forever in Your Heart

“CARDINALS APPEAR WHEN ANGELS ARE NEAR”

Many people consider the sight of a cardinal to hold special meaning.

The Cardinal is considered a sign that loved ones who have died will live on as a memory alive in our hearts.

Vanover says in Birds&Blooms that the vibrant red bird is an uplifting, happy sign that as cardinals sing their pleasant song, people may recall cherished memories of better times. The beautiful birds are a reminder that loved ones will never truly be forgotten

Winter in Ohio, where I live, means many Cardinals on our birdfeeders. They stand out with their bright red feathers and crown on their heads. The females are not as flashy, being a fawn-brown, but are easy to spot since they also have crowns.

When we have snowfall like today in the picture I took, it’s hard to miss those neon red feathers in the trees and at the feeder.

The red contrast against the pure white snow is a peaceful winter sight when you live in this region.

Cardinals typically mate for life, so where there’s a male, you will also see a female. One will often sit in a nearby tree while the other eats seed at the feeder.

Vanover writes frequently northern cardinals do mate for life — almost as often as humans do (That’s a debatable subject!)

Some pairs of cardinals do stay together all year long in their nesting territory. In other cases, the birds leave the territory and join a winter flock, but the same pair is likely to go back to the same nesting area the following spring.
