Emily, you are so brave to tell this story. You did the right thing, as hard as it was. The people who tell you that you should not "give up" your kids are not offering help, are they? That's the problem with judging others. It's easy to judge from the outside looking in but not so easy when you have the responsibility to carry out the task. it sound like they love you and they will see someday how much you loved them to do what you did.
