He knew for a long time there was no future in that relationship. I'm also sure he had no problem finding another woman. I think he stayed with my friend because she is beautiful and he liked showing her off. It was a mutual "using" thing but I do not blame him for ghosting her. But it tells more about his character. Not much integrity.
