A hot August night in Toronto

“Don’t we need reservations for a hotel before we get there?”

I questioned my husband, who had visited Toronto several times and wanted to take me to see how cool it was to hang out there.

“Nah, there are hundreds of places to stay in Toronto. We won’t have a problem getting a room.”

We were newly married and adventurous. I thought my husband knew way more than I did, having been all over the USA traveling with rock bands as a sound engineer. He was organized and confident. He knew his way around.

Little did we know that our adventure would involve a series of unexpected challenges, primarily related to finding accommodations. We ended up at a bed and breakfast, minus the breakfast, a situation we hadn’t anticipated.

We reached Toronto at dusk and decided to get a hotel room before dinner.

Holiday Inn, Doubletree, Best Western…..none had a room.

Was something going on in the city?

Yes, there was!

Several conferences, a Harley Davidson Rally, the Antiques Roadshow, popular street fairs, and the Blue Jays had a home game.
