Hey Pam. Believe it or not, I was in the same spot two years ago. I had RK in 1993. On only one eye. That way, I had monovision. It worked for several years until I had a contact lens in that eye. Two years ago, I got the diagnosis of a cataract in that RK eye and had a lens implant. It was a breeze. My eye docs are the highest rated in this area. They said the RK caused that eye to need cataract surgery sooner than the other. I had my choice of 3 different corrective lenses (or go for the one Medicare pays for, which corrects it as close to 20/20, and you will need cheaters forever). I chose the trifocal. That adjusts to close up, in between, and far. Works perfectly. Just look over your choices carefully. I had to pay the extra for the lens I chose because it's an upgrade. ( about $2000) But I only have two eyes so.... no brainer. One lens they tried to get me to go with was an adjustable lens that would take 2-4 weeks to tweak. I would have had to wear sunglasses all the time ( light would set the lens at the wrong point) and be tested frequently until they finally had me at 20/20. Then expose me to sunlight to set the lens strength. Too complicated. I opted for the trifocal because I didn want 20/20 in that eye anyway. I like seeing close up with no glasses or cheaters. Plus, I felt like it was experimental. I could have been wrong but just read over your choices well since once it's done, it's permanent. I'll be praying for you, my friend :-)
