Hi Gene. The monthly fees are not waived. They will use your SS and pension money although you will keep about half for personal use. Then they put you on Medicaid and they also have a Benevolence Fund full of donations to assist with your costs. If I die before 7 years, which is the time period you can still get some refund if you want to move elsewhere, get married, go to live with a child, etc, I have donated what is left of my buy-in to the Benevolence Fund. My kids will still have my other money to divide up. So that fund is what will keep me going until I die if necessary.

I’m retired and Medium helps me foster a young mind. I write about my experiences in life. Some mundane, some sad, some funny, and hopefully none boring!
