Hi Helene. Are you much younger? If so, I agree. Out of my 4 kids only one has a retirement and that's because she works at a school. I plan to have a lot of fun but I am in the Baby Boomer generation of pensions and parents who left us money. I am trying to be able to leave my kids an inheritance too but if I live too long it won't happen. I was a nurse and we did not make tons of money nor get the benefits my 2 sisters got as teachers. Plus, once they retired they went right back to work! I wish I had some advice. Now you all are expected to have your own 401K that you contribute to. But you have to have a little extra money to do that and it's hard. I started 40 years ago at work putting $5/pay into the 403B plan. A wise nurse told me to get started and it paid off. Every little bit will grow over the years.

I'm sorry this is so long and I hope it doesn't sound like a sermon.
