How Much Money Should a Drug Addict Need While In Rehab?
I knew my daughter would soon be asking for money
The thing is, I gave her thousands of dollars the last time this same thing happened. Three years ago. Within 6 months she was back on the street. The counseling certification course I paid for was dropped. The money she owed for fines to keep her out of jail was wasted. I felt I threw money out the window. No, I KNEW I threw money out the window.
What a fool I had been 3 years ago.
But, she tried then. I know she tried. She went to meetings. She got a job. She had sponsors. I know it’s hard work to get clean and stay clean.
Sponsors ended up dropping her for things she did against the AA program. Against their advice and counsel. Like going to bars and hanging out with men in rehab themselves.
She had been a sponsor before. She knew the rules. Staying drug-free is much more difficult without a sponsor. She thought she knew more than any of them. She didn’t need a sponsor.
Three years ago I was not retired. I was making good money. Now, I’m on a fixed income. I don’t have money to throw away. I need my money to last me for possibly 20–25 more years.
