How To Swallow the Pill of Bitterness So You Don’t Choke
Don’t waste your valuable time holding grudges
June has been mad at me for 50 years.
We both ran for president of the student council when we were high school Freshmen. I won. She wanted to win. I can’t believe I still see her to this day and she ignores me. We worked at the same hospital for 30 years and she never spoke to me the whole time, even if I smiled at her.
We started High School as best friends.
That’s what you call holding a grudge!
Grudges, according to Oxford Languages, are a persistent feeling of ill will or resentment resulting from a past insult or injury.
Do you hold grudges?
Do you have someone from your past that you just can’t forgive even though much time has passed? Maybe, if the transgression was serious enough you are justified as in Tom’s case.
Tom, is blind in his left eye. It was obvious by the milky white color of the iris. I asked him about his eye. Tom said when he was 14 there was a kid in his class that would take bobby pins, bend them a certain way, and snap them at other kids. They would hit the skin and sting quite badly.
