My daughter and her doubles partner were winning a big tennis tournament in a city about 5 miles from where her dad lived. I was so excited for them because they were the underdogs. I called him and told him he needed to come and watch. He hemmed and hawed and finally drove up there for the last 15 minutes or so of the match. They won for the whole county and got trophies. She was so happy to see him.

I never told her how I had to beg him to come. She thought he knew about it and came on his own. That's one of the few times he paid her any attention.
