I am wondering if the guy I've been seeing for 8 months has BPD. Right from the first date, he became committed to me and always talked as if we would end up married. He sends me houses for sale to look at for when we are married because he knows I will not live in the one he shared with his wife. For many reasons. He has not asked me to marry him, but I believe that's because his wife died less than a year ago and he is waiting for that year mark. Most often, I think he never loved her at all. We have too many little spats over the same things, and I believe a long-term commitment or marriage to him would be a mistake. He is needy, hovers over me, and always follows me around. I can't even run in to pick something up from the dry cleaner without him following me. I tell him it's OK to wait in the car, but he comes anyway. If he does end up waiting, he will pout like a child. He looks like a sad puppy! He has no friends after being a minister for 40 years. Odd. He is amazingly self-centered. He has many good qualities as well, but I have never been this irritated and annoyed with a man in my life. It makes me want my ex back even more. I can only hope my ex is finding out life with his girlfriend/landlady/ex-fiancé is similarly unappealing.
