I broke my left arm right at the elbow while playing tennis. I'd been dealing with the right elbow tendonitis for years. I had surgery on it but it didn't help. All that knee twisting on the court was starting to mess with my knees. It was too much time off, and I felt I couldn't get on a team because I couldn't play at a 3.5 level. But getting the USTA to drop you down is difficult. My daughter and I won a couple of tournaments. She got me into playing when she was in high school. She played in college too. Finally, I had meniscus surgery, and the surgeon messed my knee up worse. It's a long story, but it was 6 months before I could walk very well. Then he said I needed a total knee. I went to the best at Cleveland Clinic last summer, and he said I was good. I could wait until it was killing me. He only does hips and knees. He gave me an injection, and I haven't worn a brace since. I get another one in December. But...they both hurt sometimes, especially at night in bed. When I'm not even moving.

I like to hike and bike, and when I can, I swim and work at the machines at the gym.
