I can see this as grief. Often, you are stuck because you are earning money, and the family needs it. So, you grieve for a long time or figure something out where everyone has to sacrifice for you to change jobs/professions. I never wanted to be a nurse. But I was pregnant when I graduated from high school and had to get married, so I could not be the Flight Attendant I was aiming for. I worked 42 years in a profession I never wanted to be in, but I made the most of it and even enjoyed it sometimes.
