I could never figure out how someone could fall for that stuff either. But it happens to smart people.

Or, confused people. When my mom was alive we always worried she'd get a call and give all her money away because she had mild dementia. We couldn't take her phone away. It was the only way she had to talk to family. My sister got control of all my mom's finances so she couldn't be scammed out of money but it was hard for my mom. She had been in control of her money all her life and it was a big deal to her.

So many folks out there are susceptible for different reasons.
