I have 3 daughters and from a young age I told them they need to be independent in life, with an education, their own money, and high standards. Otherwise, I saw how friends, cousins and many other women in general became trapped depending on a man. Only one listened and has a good life with a good man. Another one stays with an abusive guy who is the father of her 2 children. She left college to be with him. It makes me sick. She now realizes what I was trying to teach her but it’s her mess to dig out of. I can’t help her much. She’s afraid he will take the kids if she tries to leave because she’s been in the hospital twice with psychotic breakdowns brought on by being with him. I’ve done all I can. I thank my parents for telling me the same thing. I listened. Your story has been around for ages so why don’t some girls/women heed the advice or catch on?

I write about my experiences in life. Some mundane, some sad, some funny, and hopefully none boring!
