I have been to 4 different counselors pre and post-divorce. I started Al-Anon too late. None of the pre-divorce counselors told me about it. They told me he would never stop and I should leave. None of them said to try, although we saw 2 counselors together. Obviously, 7 years later he was still drinking and I have no idea if he is now or not since he lives with his girlfriend an hour away and none of us see or hear from him.

I know you are right and I dodged a bullet. I just feel so alone and even he has someone, not me.
