I live in a 55 and older LifePlan community. We buy in and also pay monthly like rent/HOA, but they keep you for life. They have an assisted living, memory care unit, and skilled nursing if we need that at other nearby locations. That's part of the deal I made moving here. It's a trend rising nationwide because millennials are not equipped to care for aging parents. Many couples move here knowing one or the other will pass away first, and they don't want to leave their partner uncared for. Most people live and stay here until they pass, but some move to assisted living or memory care. If you fall and break a hip, you go to the rehab center and then back here to your home with maybe some home health care. Its an ideal set up in many ways but depending on how long you live you do pay nd you don't own your place. I have 7 years to still get money returned to me if I move or leave, or die.
