I recall finding a bunch of charges on a few of our credit cards where my ex had bought things for the company he worked at... he did not even own it, but his friends did. I guess he thought he was being the nice guy, but it ran up our cards with charges I did not recognize. The worst part was when I went downstairs as he read the paper and asked if he knew what these charges were. I said I was ready to call the credit card company to dispute these unknown charges. He looked me right in the eye and shook his head no. I asked again, "Are you sure?" he shook his head again. I knew he was lying right to my face. It was the worst feeling. I went upstairs and called the credit card company to arrange some way to pay or ask for a decrease in the interest. The representative told me to look around for some cards with a 0% interest offer on balance transfers. I was crying, and she felt terrible for me. Jane would not have lied to you. I doubt she realized how much it was adding up. God knew what he was doing when you didn't find out until after she passed. She had other things on her mind, and if that made her happy, it was worth it.
