I think it's just ingrained in some people's personalities. Too bad for them. One of my daughters is mad at me right now for a dumb thing (not dumb to me but that's why I asked her to stop). She will stay mad at me until I ask her to make up. Years! This happens all the time and if she weren't my daughter I'd let her loose.
