I watched the video with Kyle and read your article. I did not see the show where they introduced the 3-year-old.
However, what was to be accomplished here besides sensationalism? That 3 year old would have no concept of sperm, sex, or how babies are made. I'm sure when she got older and realized her parents could not have made her biologically they could have told her they used a donor. In my humble opinion, I do not think anyone should ever know, meet, or stay in contact with a donor. That, in the future, could be upsetting to a child. Thinking they had a "male" actual father out there that had nothing to do with raising them or loving them. Too much confusion.
Dr. Phil sure did flub up. The 3-year-old may never remember this encounter. But the show was done for money and that is disgusting, especially when a child is involved.
On the other hand, I do credit Kyle for his dedication. And that he charges nothing. He also says he keeps records and stats. I picture a future gathering of all these kids and calling each other siblings, etc. That is a problem with a non-anonymous donor.
Thanks for this thought-provoking article.
