I wonder if she was depressed? After all, to have a 10 year old and then to give up an infant has to be sad. A woman carries that baby for 9 months and knows it pretty well before it's out of her. I believe a woman is very unselfish giving her baby up to a better life than she can provide. That takes an amount of maturity but still has a psychological effect. She could provably gain from seeing a therapist.
