If I had not been at my last nerve with the clawing and scratching I never would have considered it. No matter what I did helped and I tried it all. My furniture has been taped up with plastic wrap for 2 years and she just claws it off. Then she clawed my grandson. He's only 2 and has his own cats he loves. They are nice. I felt so bad. If he chases her around she doesn't run away. She fights back, fights everyone.

My daughter walked by and she was perched on the landing and reached out and put 4 deep gashes on her arm that bled like crazy. If I try to shoe her off the kitchen counter (I don't like animals in the kitchen) she won't go. She fights me. Most cats would jump and run!

Anyway, I did cancel 3 appointments to have it done in the past year and If I had not spoken to my vet I still would be dealing with all the destruction. My sheers, shower curtain, carpet, screens, and furniture to name a few things.

I could never rehome her. I love her too much plus no one would take her except for a barn cat and I don't want that.

That's my case. I imagine your adopted cat does just fine.

So far mine is doing great. She's jumping on to the fireplace mantle and above the kitchen cupboards. And begging to go outside which I allow as long as I'm watching.

Thanks for commenting. Trust me, I do not like declawing either and I spent that week in tears most of the time.
