I'm talking to a widower (romantically, it seems, by his actions) whose partner has not been gone that long. They had a strange relationship of about 3 years and got "married" 18 months ago in some church, but not legally. Then she died six months ago from brain cancer she had when they got together, but it was in remission. Anyway, I am treading lightly and told him I felt he needed more time to grieve. I'm not sure where I go from here.
