It's always so hard when friends grow in different directions. I've parted with friends but didn't really say goodbye. We just grew apart. However, an engagement, baby, or marriage should always be announced to "friends".

Just this week I guess I'm parting with a friend. She made a quilt for me that included pieces of 4 of my mother's sweatshirts she wore all the time. She would not tell what I owed her and I asked several times.

Finally, I sent her a check for $200 with a thank you note and asked her to tell me if I owed her more. I saw she cashed the check but never contacted me. I texted her and asked if she wanted to get coffee some time this week. She simply answered "yes". I sent her back that I would be moving soon. She lives close by now but when I move I'll be much farther away. No answer.

I'm perturbed she didn't say a day or time we could get together.

I'm perturbed with her short answer.

I'm perturbed if I did not give her enough money she isn't telling me.

I'm perturbed if she's mad at me for not paying her enough since I don't know what to pay her.

I've known her since grade school although we haven't been friends for many years until I moved here.

I think our friendship is over.
