Kenya Awaits Me, but Please Remember I Will Be Back Next Month

Next week I will be leaving for Africa.

My brother and I are visiting Kenya for ten days.

It’s exciting but so complicated to travel. Getting there is half the battle; hoping you get home from a foreign country without any issues is the other half.

The win is the time in between.

  • Passport
  • Visa
  • COVID vaccine proof (has to be uploaded to a website, and a QR code is generated to prove your compliance.)
  • Flight to New York from Cleveland to connect with the Kenya Airlines flight, and hope it doesn’t get canceled. That’s a big concern right now.
  • A mobile phone that can be used for international calls.
  • Face masks for everywhere.
  • Typhoid and Hep A vaccines cost me $250. Malaria pills were not too expensive. I had a Yellow Fever vaccine already, and that’s good for life.
  • Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), so we can receive the latest travel updates (security issues especially), and the U.S. Embassy knows we are…
