Kristi, predators are needed to keep the population of other animals down. That deer could have been killed in the road just as easily. An abundance of deer is a problem. We have counties around where I live that have special "cull" times to drive down the population so the rest can have enough to eat. I know its sad (see my note above) but I understand. However, wherever the coyotes are, they don't seem overpopulated. I hear them in the park behind me at night but I've never seen one. Its dark back there!
