Kyra, that was ultimately the final reason I told him it was over. I said, "you will never quit unless you see how serious I am about leaving you". It was still 3 years later before he actually stayed sober. For 2 years now. He just got the yellow plates and blow box off his truck last month.
He would like to reconcile but we are miles apart now. I'm retired and live a much more free lifestyle. I have money and different friends. He still works and lives from paycheck to paycheck. All the fines he incurred with the federal government and the charges he received for OVI's, along with the cost of the blow box, etc. He couldn't save a dime and I lent him money more than once. He always paid it back and he does some stuff for me around my condo. But I've dated men that are settled and pretty secure, more like me. it's hard. I don't want to go backward.
I'm always confused because he is the only one I can discuss the kids with and I know he will never blab.
