I left off with my daughter, after 9 years of addiction and rehab, finding a good guy, getting pregnant with my granddaughter, and staying off drugs. She spent the beginning of her pregnancy in rehab. It was a concern since the baby was exposed to cocaine for her first 2 months in utero.

My granddaughter was born full-term but barely 5lbs. She didn’t breathe or cry right away.

I will never forget my daughter’s eyes as she looked at me terrified, “why isn’t my baby crying?”

My heart sank. The baby did start to gasp and then let out some weak cries. The neonatal pediatrician was called in. She examined my granddaughter and said she was healthy. She also knew the history of my daughter and had a discussion with her. She must not go back on drugs.

My daughter stayed off drugs for the next 10 years.

I write about my experiences in life. Some mundane, some sad, some funny, and hopefully none boring!
