One of my daughters was tall and overweight. She acted out. We moved her to a small Christian school. She became a tremendous asset to their volleyball team. I felt it helped her self-esteem, but in the end, she got crapped on anyway. As much as we want to, we can't fix everything for our children any more than we can quickly fix ourselves.
