Punkin Does Justice to the Saying “Look What the Cat Dragged In”
Little gifts I’m not thrilled to receive
My cat Punkin escapes the house now and then.
When that happens, I can count on her bringing me a lovely “gift” that she has stalked and captured in the yard.
Usually, it’s a bird, and it is still alive. She likes batting it around, so it can’t take flight.
Punkin has no front claws, so killing anything is not possible unless she scares the poor thing to death.
That's yet to happen.
Feathers flying and squawking, I manage to chase the bird down with a towel, scoop it up, and let it fly away outside.
Birds are easy to rescue.
She’s hilarious because she starts looking around for the bird and can’t figure out where it went.
You know cats.
They act calm and disinterested in their prey and turn their heads away as if they have the capture under control.
BOOM….I move quickly!
Usually, I sit in my recliner by the sunroom door.
