TRAVEL/VACATION/FAMILY
Sixteen Members of My Family Spent Christmas in Aruba In 2000
A holiday away from ice-cold Ohio!
In January 2000, my parents sent me a letter from their winter home in Florida.
We want to take the whole family on vacation to celebrate moms 70th birthday.
My mom’s 70th birthday was coming in April.
My sister and I back in Ohio were in charge of deciding where and when to go.
Our siblings in Minneapolis and Chicago were at our mercy.
Altogether there would be ten adults (over age 18) and six children (under 18).
With the whole world available, it was a big decision.
We were given no monetary limit.
Right away, we both wanted a peaceful vacation somewhere with a beach. The family had taken a cruise together before, and we didn’t spend much time together. There were too many excursions and activities. Everyone went their own way and only met up at our table for meals.
My sister thought it was an excellent time to go at Christmas because all the kids would be off school.
