I have tried not to repeat anything on other writers’ anti-bucket lists, but when you hate chess, you just hate chess.

When I was first married, pregnant, and only 19, a guy came over to repair the TV in our tiny little rental house.
I recall a plaque my husband brought home after work one day:
DEAR HOUSE, YOU ARE SO VERY SMALL
JUST BIG ENOUGH FOR LOVE, THAT’S ALL
