Thanks for reading, Ken. I think if this had not happened to my mother I would not be so concerned. My sister got POA over her real quick like as soon as she showed any signs of forgetfulness, and that was it. She called the shots from that day on. Even cutting all the grandkids out of my parent's will. Not because of the money, but out of Spite. She was the mean aunt none of the cousins liked. She got them back.

Anyway, it's possible I'll live in my independent ranch home happily ever after until I die. It is set up user-friendly and even has an alarm system with Alexa so I just need to scream if I need help. But, if I get dementia like my mom, the decision is already made of where I'll be. Not a one of my kids needs to decide. I'm not concerned about leaving anything to my kids. They don't even know I made my cousin my POA. In fact, no one knows but her and me. That's their job to secure a retirement just as I had to do.
