That is a great line.

It describes so much about life. A lot of us give up hope and become zombies.

But perhaps It's a good thing when someone like your friend's mom can make that decision to leave this life. Maybe do not assume she gave up hope but that she surrendered to the hope that will come in her next life. We can't have that until we leave this life. Just a thought.
