That is ridiculously barbaric! I have never had such a thing. I get anesthesia for EVERYTHING! The NHS bites if that is what they expect women to endure. In America, patients always had anesthesia at the hospital where I worked. It's better to relax the muscles so the procedure can be done without damaging too much tissue. Good article, Denise.
