That's what puzzled me about my ex. He adored me. He knew I was going to leave him if he didn't stop. So why was he not quitting? I did not go to Al-Anon until after we divorced. I do wish I had gone earlier. I was embarrassed and wanted to protect him from being found out. I would have known he had very little control over his addiction.
