The last two weddings I attended were my two nieces, and they requested no gifts. I loved that! Not all can do that, but they are very successful and make a good amount of money, so it was a nice thing to do. Their weddings cost me over $1000 to attend between hotels, flights, etc., so it was one burden lifted. I like to request no gifts from my children for my birthday or Xmas, but then they seem to forget me altogether because no one sends many cards these days. Then I'm hurt. Is there a happy medium?
