This is a problem for me, too. I still feel a connection to my ex. If I had an idea of what he is doing, it might help break that, but I am left in limbo as to what is going on, and as much as I want to cut that tie, it remains in my heart. Do I still love him? Maybe not. I do love the man I married. It seems a conundrum to me. So, I have said it in my present relationship, mostly because I heard it so often I felt guilty not reciprocating. I've done this because I think I will never truly be in love again. It sounds sad but it could change. Formerly, I only said it to one man in my life and meant it, and he is gone.
