This is the harm idle gossip brings. Someone can't clear their name without going to court and facing the accusers. This happened to my son and me when he was in 9th grade. He left a Christian school to try a public school but decided he wanted to return. When a spot came open, the principal called me. Later that night, he called and said my son could not come back because he was reported taking drugs! I asked who accused him of this, and he said he was not at liberty to say. I wondered how we were supposed to negate that lie if we did not know what was said and who said it, and he stuck with his opinion. I said it was not according to God's Word to accuse like that. I was very unhappy and never saw my son use drugs or behave like he did. It ruined his reputation at my church, but he never returned, and I soon left. This happens with the internet easily. Accusations can be made, and fools believe them without proof.
