…piness and youth simply does not have patience for the kind of grief associated with losing a child. You can’t understand this unless you’ve been through it. Trust me — I didn’t get it either.

This is why it is so hard to know what to say. We who have not lost a child do not really know or can't even imagine. What is the best, most comforting, thing to say?
