This is wise helps a lot. My guilt over divorcing him after we married as Christians and took vows has been tremendous, but the family peace was measurable. Then, he and I decided to get back together a little over a year ago. He always wanted to reunite but kept getting OVIs! I said I would consider it if he was sober for two years. But he found a girlfriend last summer, and last November would have been the two-year mark. I ran into him in November and smelled alcohol on him. I told him and He told me to leave him alone. The girlfriend, who I later learned was a fiancé (to my shock and surprise), did not know. They only saw each other on Sundays! Anyway, in December, he got his 4th OVI in 10 years, a felony count, and is now in jail. I believe God was watching over me. Telling me, I did the right thing six years ago by divorcing him. Still, I like how you deduce the answers, and I will look at that formula from now on when I have tough decisions to make.
