We got our son a rabbit for his 10th birthday. I can still see his face light up him saying, "You got me a bunny?". Lord, was he adorable.

Anyway, that rabbit was so spoiled. His name was Dude. He had a mini basketball that became the love of his life if you know what I mean 🥰

We stored the Scrabble game under the couch and I swear he ate almost the entire box before we discovered it. He lived a long time. Over 10 years.

But, what you have written is definitely the norm. Kids will not take cars of a rabbit. Our guy had a huge pen (not easy to clean but I offered to do it).

The APL would call my one daughter every time a rabbit came in until she couldn't take anymore.

BTW, guinea pigs frequently meet the same fate.
