We sent our son on an Outward Bound expedition to see if that would help his selfish outlook on life. He loved it, and it made him feel important... for a while. Of course, my family assumed he was stabbing little girls on the playground and setting cats on fire. I always wished, like some of my siblings, that I had moved away and raised my kids somewhere that nosy family could not butt in.
