Your List of Dealbreakers For Online Dating May Be Useless

It’s a common practice in online dating to create lists of dealbreakers — specific looks, traits, or behaviors we believe would make a person unacceptable as a romantic partner. These lists can often be stringent and may not be interpreted the same by all participants.
Match.com even asks for them and warns that you may not have many matches if you get too picky.
None of us are perfect.
I have two non-negotiable dealbreakers: Smoking and lousy hygiene, especially teeth. Otherwise, I give the benefit of the doubt to any man online who can send me a message with appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation. If a guy cannot put a simple sentence together, I know he is not for me.
A more significant issue I’ve encountered is height and weight “misconceptions.”
I like to go out with a guy taller than me. I don’t see anything wrong with a shorter guy, but I feel uncomfortable being taller than my date. I recently met up with a guy who listed himself as 5’ 11. I’m a bit over 5’5, but I’m probably more like 5’8 with shoes or boots. This guy…
